FAQ
Questions before you get started
How the plan works, what the AI does and how to ask for early access.
Who is Bizwise for?
Bizwise is for people starting or running a small business in the UK. It helps when you are unsure which tasks apply or what order to do them in. Your plan spans eight departments and follows four stages: Validate, Establish, Launch and Operate. Each task includes guidance and official sources you can check.
Is Bizwise for UK businesses only?
Yes. Bizwise is built to help you start and run a small business in the UK. Its task guidance was checked against UK sources, including GOV.UK, HMRC, Companies House and the ICO, in October 2026.
Can I use it as a sole trader or limited company?
Yes. Bizwise supports sole traders, limited companies and partnerships. Your legal structure changes the tasks you get. Sole traders have tasks such as “Register as self-employed with HMRC”. Limited companies have tasks such as “Register for Corporation Tax with HMRC”. Sole traders and partnerships skip limited-company tasks.
Does it replace an accountant or solicitor?
No. Bizwise helps you organise the work and understand how to do it. It can draft documents and flags points where a solicitor should review. Your accountant or solicitor still provides professional advice for your circumstances. Bizwise holds the plan, decisions and reviews. It is not legal, tax or financial advice.
Does Bizwise do my bookkeeping?
No. Your books stay in your accounting software. Bizwise holds the plan, decisions and reviews, including tasks such as “Reconcile the bank account in the accounting software” and “Prepare the year-end records for the accountant”. It tells you what work is due and gives guidance on doing it.
How does the AI work, and what does it cost?
You use your own OpenAI API key, and OpenAI bills you for its use. The guide helps build your plan with niche research and cited sources. It answers questions, tailors guidance and reviews readiness for the next stage. Rules decide which tasks apply and when. There is no announced price for Bizwise yet.
What happens to my OpenAI API key?
Your key stays in the operating system keychain on your computer. It is sent with each AI request and is never stored on the Bizwise server. You use your own key for the guide, and OpenAI bills you for that use. The Bizwise app has its own terms and privacy information provided at sign-up.
What if the AI is wrong or unavailable?
Check the cited sources before acting on AI guidance. Bizwise flags points where a solicitor should review documents. A failed AI call does not change a rules outcome or break your plan. Rules decide which tasks apply, schedule repeating work and check gates. Hard gates cannot be overridden.
How is the guidance kept current?
Task guidance was checked against GOV.UK, HMRC, Companies House, the ICO, the ASA and HSE in October 2026. The AI guide re-checks requirements every 90 days. Each task links to official sources so you can check the requirement itself.
Which platforms does Bizwise run on?
Bizwise is a desktop app, with macOS first. You sign in with a Bizwise account to work on your business plan. One owner can run more than one business, and staff are invited per business. Bizwise is in early access, and there is no public download yet. Use the contact page to enquire.
What is the price, and when is it available?
Bizwise is in early access. There is no announced price, public download or launch date yet. The “Get early access” button takes you to the contact page, where you can email about access. The AI guide uses your own OpenAI API key, and OpenAI bills you for that use.
How do I get early access?
